(English below) Mgr. Art. Petra Štefanková, FRSA sa narodila 12. augusta 1978 v Bratislave. Študovala propagačnú grafiku na bratislavskej Škole úžitkového výtvarníctva v rokoch 1993-1997, grafický dizajn na Vysokej škole výtvarných umení v rokoch 1997-2003 a filmovú a televíznu grafiku v ateliéri Prof. Jiřího Bartu na VŠUP (Vysoká škola uměleckoprůmyslová v Praze) v roku 2002. V máji 2016 študovala krátky kurz počítačovej animácie na Central Saint Martins, University of the Arts v Londýne.
Venuje sa grafickému dizajnu od printu, cez web a multimédiá až k televíznej a filmovej grafike. V oblasti ilustrácie je jej doménou reklamná, časopisecká i knižná ilustrácia pre dospelých i deti. Najznámejšie propagačné projekty boli plagáty pre ekonomickú fakultu University of Udine v Taliansku a brožúra, logo a plagáty pre Divadlo Andreja Bagara v Nitre v spolupráci s Jozefom Bednárikom pre muzikál Adam Šangala. Jej ilustrácie tiež použila firma Orange vo Francúzsku na základe tendera, ktorý vyhlásila agentúra YCN v Londýne. Ďalšie významnejšie projekty boli napríklad ilustrácie pre web a dvd obaly americkej firmy Lynda.com, ilustrovaný dizajn webu Microsoft Game Studios alias Lionhead Studios, ilustrácie k článkom a na obálky pre časopisy a noviny The Guardian, The Economist, Popular Mechanics, Dialogue Review, Future Music, 4Talent a v iných. Vo februári 2022 bola jej maľba Rays of Light publikovaná vydavateľstvom Condé Nast v známom britskom časopise Vanity Fair UK, v Hollywoodskom čísle na A-zozname výtvarníkov.
Petra Štefanková navrhovala dizajn animovaných televíznych spotov pre vydavateľstvo Športpress a rádio Slobodná Európa. Popri vlastných projektoch animovaného filmu, medzi ktoré patrí aj kreslený hudobný klip pre skupinu Elán na skladbu Byť Mladý, sa podielala aj na tvorbe animovaných titulkov pre filmovú rozprávku Nanny McPhee 2 ako dizajnérka objektov a pozadia. Za tento projekt dostalo štúdio VooDooDog v Londýne striebornú svetovú medajlu na festivale televízie a filmu v New Yorku v roku 2011.
Svoje diela vystavovala v USA, Kanade, Veľkej Británii, Austrálii, v Hong Kongu, Číne, Poľsku, Francúzsku, Nemecku, v Čechách a na Slovensku, v Maďarsku, Rakúsku, Grécku, Švajčiarsku, Srbsku, Taliansku, Turecku, Argentíne, Kolumbii, v Južnej Kórei a na Ukrajine. Medzi najdôležitejšie patrí Medzinárodné trienále plagátu v Heritage Museum v Hong Kongu a salónová prehliadka Open Source v Los Angeles Center for Digital Art v Kalifornii. Ako členka Digital Illustrators Discovery Organisation vystavovala aj v Japonsku v združení ilustrátorov, ktoré založil japonský pedagóg a ilustrátor Marty M. Ito (Paintmonster). V roku 2004 bola jej počítačová grafika ocenená cenou Excellence Award v súťaži Toray Digital Creation Awards v Japonsku počítačovým umelcom Yoichirom Kawaguchi a v roku 2005 jej bola udelená cena Hirosaki Award primátorom mesta Hirosaki za ilustrácie.
V júli 2007 a opakovane v roku 2009 vystavovala v rámci prehliadky toho najlepšieho z britskej ilustrácie pod názvom The Best Of British Illustration v priestoroch London College of Communication a jej práce publikovalo i svetoznáme vydavateľstvo Luerzer v publikácii 200 Best Illustrators Worldwide 2007/08.
Medzi najvýznamnejšie podujatia, ktoré absolvovala ako vystavujúci a zároveň prednášajúci člen, patrí i výstava počítačovej grafiky a konferencia GRAPHITE 2007, ktorú organizovala americká organizácia ACM SIGGRAPH v priestoroch University of Western Australia. V tom istom roku ju kurátor Andrew Chew vybral na kolektívnu výstavu GAS Project v Global Gallery v Sydney spolu s uznávaným americkým výtvarníkom Doze Green.
V auguste 2007 získala cenu televízie Channel 4 pre mladého britského výtvarníka do 30 rokov, ktorú jej udelili zástupcovia britských médií a výtvarnej scény. Od mája 2008 figuruje na pozvanie výboru v Royal Society for the encouragement of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce v Londýne, ktorej prezidentkou je Princezná Anna, dcéra kráľovny Alžbety II. Petra Štefanková je trvalou členkou tejto organizácie.
V júli 2008 prezentovala svoju prácu v rámci Salónu ilustrátorov ICON5 v hoteli Roosevelt pri Madison Avenue v New Yorku. V novembri 2008 bola prezentérkou slovenskej digitálnej tvorby na európskom festivale digitálnej animácie Les E-Magicienes vo Valenciennes, ktorý zorganizovala francúzska škola animácie SUPINFOCOM a zároveň v tomto mesiaci odštartovala výberovú putovnú medzinárodnú výstavu Common Ground 2008: Digitálne umenie a ekológia, ktorá začala v čínskom Pekingu a pokračovala v galérii v A&I Gallery v Los Angeles v roku 2010. Ďalšie prezentácie sa uskutočnili napríklad počas Pecha Kucha Night v Brightone v Novembri 2009, v DOX: Centre for Contemporary Art v Prahe či opäť v rámci konferencie ICON6 Illustration Salon v Langham Hoteli v Pasadene v júli 2010 a ICON7 Roadshow Illustration Salon v Providence, Rhode Island, USA v roku 2012. V roku 2012 vystavila jej prácu aj britská Saatchi Gallery v Londýne počas večera venovaného anglickej publikácii BOND, v ktorom Petra Štefanková pôsobila ako redaktorka, ilustrátorka a grafická dizajnérka. House of Illustration v Londýne prebralo záštitu nad podujatím Illustrators Christmas Fair, v rámci ktorej Petra Štefanková predstavila svoju prácu v decembri 2015. V roku 2016 sa zúčastnila výstavy Prague Design Week v Kafkovom dome v Prahe.
Ako manažérka a art directorka firmy Animacia Creative Collective v Londýne v roku 2010 sprostredkovala a riadila spoluprácu slovenských a českých ilustrátorov na projekte detských knižných publikácií o známych hudobných skladateľoch, ktoré vyšli v portugalskom vydavateľstve Levoir.
Samostatné výstavy Petry Štefankovej sa konali v Slovenskom národnom divadle v roku 2009, na Slovenskej ambasáde vo Washingtone DC v USA v roku 2010 pod názvom Pink Freud Anyone. V roku 2016 prebehla samostatná výstava nazvaná London Scene v súkromnom medicínskom centre Medissimo v Bratislave a ďalšie tri samostatné výstavy v Divadle Malá scéna STU, na Univerzite Konštantína Filozofa v Nitre a v galérii Lite-Haus v Berlíne.
V roku 2017 sa zúčastnila Bienále Ilustrácií Bratislava v Slovenskom národnom múzeu a usporiadala dve samostatné výstavy Filmové paralely v Slovenskom dome v Prahe a na Najvyššom kontrolnom úrade v Bratislave. V roku 2018 sa konala samostatná výstava Kino spod vankúša v priestoroch Medzinárodného domu umenia pre deti – BIBIANA v Bratislave. Ďalšie samostatné výstavy zorganizovala v Preventívnom centre onkologického ústavu sv. Alžbety v Bratislave a v knižnici v Malackách v roku 2019. Jej samostatná výstava Cestovateľka prebehla v auguste 2021 v Galérii na západnej terase Bratislavského hradu. V roku 2023 predstavili jej maliarsku a ilustračnú tvorbu Slovenský inštitút v Budapešti a Mestská knižnica mesta Piešťany.

V roku 2016 jej vyšla autorská detská ilustrovaná kniha Moje malé more vo vlastnom vydavateľstve. V roku 2017 ilustrovala knihu My už vieme všeličo autorky Márie Štefánkovej vo vydavateľstve Slovart. V roku 2018 poskytla námet a ilustrácie ku knihe Čmáranica a Machuľa opäť v spolupráci s Máriou Štefánkovou vo vydavateľstve Slovart. Kniha Čmáranica a Machuľa získala ocenenie Najlepšia kniha jari 2018 v BIBIANE. V roku 2020 vydala spolu so svojou mamou Auréliou Štefankovou knihu poézie ilustrovanú maľbami pod názvom Neberte mi sny v slovensko-anglickom znení. V roku 2023 vyšla detská publikácia rakúskej autorky Hannah Lena Rebel z Viedne, The Fly on the Honey Bread, s ilustráciami Petry Štefankovej prostredníctvom nemeckej tlačiarne Epubli.
Petra Štefanková je od júna 2015 členkou Umeleckej besedy slovenskej. V rokoch 2017 a 2018 bola členkou Kontrolnej komisie UBS. Ako dobrovoľníčka pracovala v úlohe RSA Connectora pre Kráľovskú spoločnosť umení v Londýne, v rámci ktorej nominovala niekoľko významných slovenských osobností pôsobiacich doma i v zahraničí za členov tejto spoločnosti. V roku 2019 získala ocenenie Ministerky kultúry Slovenskej Republiky za šírenie dobrého mena slovenského výtvarného umenia v zahraničí. Od roku 2022 je tiež individuálnou členkou Slovenskej výtvarnej únie.
Americké vydavateľstvo AI-AP, ktoré organizuje prestížne súťaže American Photography a American Illustration, zaradilo v roku 2023 jej maľbu medzi vítazné diela v 42. ročníku súťaže American Illustration v New Yorku.
O práci Petry Štefankovej bolo natočených niekoľko televíznych reportáží – ako súčasť dokumentu Slováci vo svete režiséra Braňa Mišíka z roku 2010, portrét v rámci relácie Slovensko v obrazoch na RTVS v roku 2020, portrét v Správach RTVS v roku 2021 a tiež dokumentárny film pre TV 213, Portrét umelca – Petra Štefanková v réžii Antona Faraonova.

She works in graphic design from print, web and multimedia to television and film graphics. In the field of illustration, her domain is advertising, magazine and book illustration for adults and children. The most famous promotional projects were the posters for the Faculty of Economics of the University of Udine in Italy and the brochure, logo and posters for the Andrej Bagar Theater in Nitra in collaboration with Jozef Bednárik for the musical Adam Šangala. Her illustrations were also used by the Orange company in France based on a tender announced by the YCN agency in London. Other significant projects were, for example, illustrations for the website and DVD covers of the American company Lynda.com, illustrated design of the Microsoft Game Studios aka Lionhead Studios website, illustrations for articles and covers for magazines and newspapers The Guardian, The Economist, Popular Mechanics, Dialogue Review, Future Music, 4Talent and others. In February 2022, her painting Rays of Light was published by Condé Nast in the famous British magazine Vanity Fair UK, in the Hollywood issue of A-list Artists.
Petra Štefanková designed the design of animated TV commercials for the publishing house Športpress and Slobodná Európa Radio. In addition to her own animated film projects, which include a cartoon music video for the band Elán for the song Byť Mladý, she also participated in the creation of animated titles for the fairy tale Nanny McPhee 2 as an object and background designer. For this project, the VooDooDog studio in London received a silver world medal at the New York Film and Television Festival in 2011.
She exhibited her works in the USA, Canada, Great Britain, Australia, Hong Kong, China, Poland, France, Germany, the Czech Republic and Slovakia, Hungary, Austria, Greece, Switzerland, Serbia, Italy, Turkey, Argentina, Colombia, in South Korea and Ukraine. Highlights include the International Poster Triennial at the Heritage Museum in Hong Kong and the Open Source Salon Show at the Los Angeles Center for Digital Art in California. As a member of the Digital Illustrators Discovery Organization, she also exhibited in Japan with the Association of Illustrators founded by the Japanese educator and illustrator Marty M. Ito (Paintmonster). In 2004, her computer graphics were awarded the Excellence Award at the Toray Digital Creation Awards in Japan by computer artist Yoichiro Kawaguchi, and in 2005 she was awarded the Hirosaki Award by the Mayor of Hirosaki for illustration.
In July 2007 and again in 2009, she exhibited as part of a tour of the best of British illustration under the name The Best Of British Illustration at the premises of the London College of Communication, and her work was also published by the world-famous Luerzer publishing house in the publication 200 Best Illustrators Worldwide 2007/08.
Among the most important events that she participated in as an exhibitor and at the same time a lecturing member were the computer graphics exhibition and the GRAPHITE 2007 conference, which was organized by the American organization ACM SIGGRAPH at the University of Western Australia. In the same year, curator Andrew Chew selected her for the collective exhibition GAS Project at the Global Gallery in Sydney, together with the acclaimed American artist Doze Green.
In August 2007, she received the Channel 4 Television Award for Young UK Based Artist under 30, awarded to her by representatives of the British media and art scene. Since May 2008, he has been invited by the committee at the Royal Society for the Encouragement of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce in London, whose president is Princess Anne, daughter of Queen Elizabeth II. Petra Štefanková is a lifelong member of this organization.
In July 2008, she presented her work as part of the ICON5 Illustrators Salon at the Roosevelt Hotel on Madison Avenue in New York. In November 2008, she was the presenter of Slovak digital creation at the European digital animation festival Les E-Magicienes in Valenciennes, which was organized by the French animation school SUPINFOCOM, and at the same time this month she started the selected travelling international exhibition Common Ground 2008: Digital Art and Ecology, which started in Beijing, China and continued in the gallery at A&I Gallery in Los Angeles in 2010. The House of Illustration in London took over the patronage of the Illustrators Christmas Fair event, within which Petra Štefanková presented her work in December 2015. In 2016, she participated in the Prague Design Week exhibition at the Kafka House in Prague.
As a manager and art director of Animacia Creative Collective in London in 2010, she mediated and managed the cooperation of Slovak and Czech illustrators on the project of children’s book publications about famous music composers, which were published by the Portuguese publishing house Levoir.
Petra Štefanková’s solo exhibitions were held at the Slovak National Theater in 2009, and at the Slovak Embassy in Washington DC USA in 2010 under the name Pink Freud Anyone. In 2016, a solo exhibition called London Scene was held at the private medical centre Medissimo in Bratislava and three other solo exhibitions at the Malá scéna Theater of STU, at the University of Konstantin Filozof in Nitra and at the Lite-Haus gallery in Berlin.
In 2017, she participated in the Biennale of Illustrations Bratislava at the Slovak National Museum and organized two solo exhibitions Film Parallels at the Slovak House in Prague and at the Supreme Control Office in Bratislava. In 2018, a solo exhibition Kino spod pojja was held on the premises of the International House of Art for Children – BIBIANA in Bratislava. She organized other independent exhibitions in the Preventive Center of the Oncology Institute of St. Alžbety in Bratislava and in the library in Malacky in 2019. Her solo exhibition The Traveler took place in August 2021 in the Gallery on the west terrace of Bratislava Castle. In 2023, her painting and illustration work was presented by the Slovak Institute in Budapest and the Municipal Library of Piešťany.

In 2016, she published her author’s children’s illustrated book Moje malé more (My Small Sea) in her own publishing house. In 2017, she illustrated the book My už vieme všeličo (We Already Know Everything) by the author Mária Štefánková in the Slovart publishing house. In 2018, she provided the theme and illustrations for the book Čmáranica and Machuľa (Scribble and Blotch) again in collaboration with Mária Štefánková at the Slovart publishing house. The book Čmáranica a Machuľa won the Best Book of Spring 2018 award in BIBIANA. In 2020, together with her mother, Aurélia Štefanková, she published a book of poetry illustrated with paintings under the title Neberte mi sny (Don’t take my dreams from me) in the Slovak-English version. In 2023, the children’s publication of Austrian author Hannah Lena Rebel from Vienna, The Fly on the Honey Bread, with illustrations by Petra Štefanková, was published by the German publisher Epubli.
Since June 2015, Petra Štefanková has been a member of the Slovak Art Forum. In 2017 and 2018, she was a member of the UBS Audit Committee. As a volunteer, she worked in the role of RSA Connector for the Royal Society of Arts in London, in which she nominated several prominent Slovak personalities working at home and abroad as members of this society. In 2019, she received an award from the Minister of Culture of the Slovak Republic for spreading the good name of Slovak visual arts abroad. Since 2022, she is also an individual member of the Slovak Art Union.
The American publishing house AI-AP, which organizes the prestigious American Photography and American Illustration competitions, included her painting in 2023 among the winning works in the 42nd year of the American Illustration competition in New York.
Several television reports were filmed about the work of Petra Štefanková – as part of the documentary Slovaks in the World by director Braňo Mišík from 2010, a portrait in the program Slovakia in pictures on RTVS in 2020, a portrait in RTVS News in 2021 and also a documentary film for TV 213, Portrait of the artist – Petra Štefanková directed by Anton Faraonov.
